Katrina Kaif recently revealed that she initially felt somewhat reluctant to star in the film New York, as her role in Bachna Ae Haseeno had been cut. She felt that New York lacked the grand scale and lavish songs that she was accustomed to and found it to be a bit too artsy for her taste. However, her perspective shifted once the film was wrapped, and she realized the value of the experience.

In an interview with Mid-day, Katrina explained that she was initially part of Bachna Ae Haseeno, but her scenes were cut due to length, which led to her role being removed. Disappointed by this turn of events, she was approached for New York shortly afterward. Initially hesitant about the project, as it seemed to be a smaller, more artistic film without the typical song-and-dance elements she was used to, Katrina ultimately agreed to take on the role with the encouragement of Salman Khan, who had a positive experience working with the director, Kabir Khan.

Katrina recalled her initial impressions of the New York set, saying, “I did say yes to the film. I very begrudgingly walked onto the set in New York…I was gritting my teeth. I was like, this is seeming like a very quaint production.” However, her feelings changed quickly, and by the end of the film’s shoot in New York, she found it to be the most incredible experience of her life up to that point. She said, “All of us, we were crying to leave. None of us wanted to leave. And it was crying, like really genuine heartbreak for that experience to get over.”

New York, directed by Kabir Khan and produced by Aditya Chopra for Yash Raj Films, also starred John Abraham, Neil Nitin Mukesh, and Irrfan Khan.
