Bade Mian Chote Mian struggles at the box office despite strong encouragement

Despite a storm of publicity led by Bollywood heavyweights Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff, their latest project “Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan” has gone down as expected with the film earning a modest amount of money Rs 15.65 crore on the opening day in India, according to industry tracker Saknilk , but earned only Rs 7 crore on the second day, taking its domestic total to Rs 22.65 crore.

Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, “Bade Mian Chhote Mian” was touted as a high-octane event, with the two lead actors in a dare and the film was formally released on Eid to secure a holiday benefited a wider audience. Despite initial expectations for an extended weekend rally, the film’s poor performance has cast doubt on its future at the box office.

Critics have not been kind to “Big Mian Chote Mian,” whose negative reviews could further dent its earnings. If a film fails to deliver good word of mouth, it can spell trouble for longevity in theaters.

In a change of pace, “Bade Mian Chhote Mian” met Ajay Devgn’s “Maidan”, which also struggled to gain momentum. Despite earning Rs 7.1 crore on the opening day (including paid previews), “Maidan” suffered a major setback, managing just Rs 2.75 crore on the second day for a total box office collections of Rs 9.85 crore.

The disappointment at the box office for Akshay Kumar continues to trend since 2022, with several of his films like “Samrat Prithviraj”, “Ram Setu”, “Bachchan Pandey”, “Raksha Bandhan” failing to make an impact when success of ” OMG 2″ in 2023 Co.
